The Artist
A life form and observation
My name is Robert Guy Anderson, but everyone calls me Robbie.
I’ve spent a lot of time in India and Turkey over the years and love places like Malaysia and Bali.
I lived in Cyprus when I was growing up and then settled into the countryside near Tunbridge Wells when I was seven years old.
I’ve always loved art and went to Medway college of art and design then was accepted to Chelsea art school to do a fine art and illustration course. After my first trip to India when I was 19 years old I decided to have a career change and eventually qualified in osteopathy when I was 26.
I believe osteopathy is one of the pure forms of art as you are looking at peoples form whenever you see them. Sometimes you can change the body using soft tissue massage techniques and joint manipulation so you can have somebody who comes in or twisted up and in acute pain and after working on them a few times they are completely straight and out of pain . I lived in London for 18 months and used to sell my art in pubs. I also sold it to the British school when I was a student there.
I’ve also sold my pictures to my patients over the years as my Clinic doubles up as an art gallery I’ve just had a one man show in a gallery in Tunbridge Wells which went very well. I am now spending more time drawing and painting as I love doing it and I hope people like my results .
I was short-listed for the Royal Academy summer exhibition for 2026 which I am very excited about.
All the best
Robbie
